wingficexThis is a short wingfic exchange! It's slightly longer than a typical flash exchange, but definitely faster than a classic exchange. :)
All kinds of wings are welcome! Bird wings, bat wings, dragon wings, insect wings, robot wings—they’re all wings! They’re all cool!
All fic in this exchange must include a character with wings, and should contain some level of focus on the fact of being winged, whether that’s about the daily struggles of living with wings in a world not optimised for wings or about wing grooming and other classic wingfic tropes.

Most Important Info
- Everything is wingfic! Nominations must be themed around wings. This goes for both Relationship tags and Freeform tags.
- This exchange uses OR matching, and matches on Relationships.
- This is a Fanfic exchange. You may create other fanworks as opt-in treats, but you are expected to create a written work of at least 500 words.
- We will do our best to ensure everyone gets a fic, but this exchange’s opening will not be delayed if you don’t have a gift.

You must make at least three (3) and at most ten (10) requests, with 1-10 characters/relationships and 0-20 freeform tags within each request.
You may repeat fandoms/characters, but do not make a sign-up that’s all one character/relationship across multiple fandoms (i.e., Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes (in “Captain America”, “MCU - AMT”, and “Marvel Comics”) and literally nothing else. This kind of sign-up is too restrictive for your authors, and you will be asked to add more requests so that your author has options.
Wing Type/Character Tags?
A subset of optional details pre-loaded for your convenience! Say what kind of wings you're into, expand on what you mean in your optional details. :)
Offers
You must offer 4-10 unique fandoms, with 1-10 characters/relationships within each fandom.
Again, please do your best not to offer only one character/relationship. If you cannot match to a request at the end of the sign-up period, you will be emailed and given 12hrs to become matchable. If you are still not able to write for anyone, your sign-up will be deleted.
Matching:
This exchange will match on the Relationship field. You will match to someone who has requested at least one Relationship that you have offered.
If you are unmatchable at the end of the sign-up period, you will be emailed with directions to update your sign-up to be matchable. You will have 12 hours to provide that information. If you are still unmatchable after that, your sign-up will be deleted.
Optional Details and DNWs:
You have a box for optional details! There are three things you may put in this box.
Likes:
In addition to the freeforms, you may list up to 10 additional subjects/details that you like. These shouldn’t be longer than a sentence; phrases like “Undercover missions” or “Huddling for warmth” or “Enthusiastic Cunnilingus” are plenty. These essentially act as a secondary set of prompts, but they don’t need to be quite so wing-focused!
Opt-In Subjects:
The following list of subjects are being considered "opt-in". If you're okay with receiving them, indicate which ones in your options box (clarifications are fine).
Do not gift your recipient with any of these unless they've indicated they're alright with the subject.
If someone says they opt in to an item on this list, it is not to be treated as a Like unless the requester specifies that it’s a Like of theirs. (This type of clarification does not count as part of the Likes section above.) If it is simply listed, treat it as an option for if your idea goes that way, not as a note that it’ll make the requester especially happy.

Please add these alternate styles of fanwork to your opt-ins if you're interested in receiving them as treats! You are not guaranteed such a gift, but there are many creative people who may enjoy creating something a little different for you.
DNWs:
You may list up to 5 additional DNWs. (Anything on the Opt-In list is treated as DNW’d unless you opt in to it.)
Any DNW that attempts to force a specific scenario (ex. "DNW anything but wing grooming/Goose flying around/etc") will not be enforced.
Writing
Assignments:
To fulfill your assignment, you must create a fic of at least 500 words, centered on at least one requested Relationship.
It is recommended that you use at least one Freeform tag as inspiration, but since we aren’t matching on that, it’s not binding.
Remember to avoid your recipient’s DNWs, and make a good-faith effort to create something they’ll enjoy—look at Freeforms and Additional Likes for ideas!
Pinch Hits and Treats
Treat Basics
Treats are wonderful! Please create them and post them, both during the exchange and at any point after; the collection will remain open for treating indefinitely.
Treats are not subject to the minimum wordcount. They are, however, still subject to the recipient’s DNWs. Do your best to gift people things they’d enjoy!
If a treat is over the minimum and fits the request requirements, it may become a main gift if the person officially assigned to create for a person defaults.
Pinch Hits
The collection’s opening will not be delayed for people who don’t have gifts, but we will do our best to ensure everyone has at least one gift.

Nominations
Freeform Nomination Guidelines
Freeforms should relate to wings and wingfic somehow! Think along the lines of “Wrapping wings around each other to keep warm” or “Racing through the sky” or “Wings as an erogenous zone”. If you’re more on the angst side, “Wingless Character Lost Their Wings” or “Injured Wings” are perfectly good too!
Your mod is generous about this guideline, but Freeforms that don’t have anything to do with wingfic will not be approved. They may be rejected. They may also get modified to be more wing-y, though! For example, “[Character] needs a hug” could be changed to “[Character] needs to be hugged with wings”.
Fandom Nomination Guidelines
Nominate Crossover Fandoms as “Crossover: Fandom 1/Fandom 2”.
Nominate Original Works under “Original Works”.
Large media franchises (Star Wars, MCU, Arrowverse, etc.) may be nominated in whatever way makes the most sense to you. If you want to do “Star Wars Prequel Trilogy” and “Star Wars AMT”, on your head be it; with the way characters/relationships are being nominated, it’s very unlikely they’ll wander.
Character/Relationship Nomination Rules:
Nominations will be in the Relationships category, even for solo characters.
You must have at least one specified character in each nomination, and you must specify at least one character’s wings as a story focus.
Examples: “Sam Wilson/winged!Steve Rogers (MCU)” ; “winged!Sephiroth & None (FFVIIR)” ; “Spock & winged!Amanda Grayson (ST: TOS)” ; “winged!Kendra Saunders/Sara Lance (DC’s Arrowverse)”.
If you don’t need to use piping to clarify who a character is, please don’t; there’s enough going on in these nominations already.
Please add a fandom disambiguation tag to your requests! It will make everyone’s lives easier.
What About Canonical Wings?
For characters who canonically have wings, such as Smaug or Warren Worthington III, they’re assumed to have wings unless you specifically nominate them in the form “wingless!Smaug” or “wingless!Warren Worthington III”.
If you’re nominating a character that sometimes has wings and sometimes doesn’t (for example: Aziraphale in Good Omens), their wings remain in limbo unless you say something specific in the nomination.
What this means in practice is:
- “wingless!Aziraphale/winged!Crowley” would need to specifically NOT have Aziraphale’s wings as well as HAVING story-relevant wings for Crowley.
- “Aziraphale/winged!Crowley” would need to involve Crowley’s wings, but Aziraphale’s wings are left in amiable limbo. They don’t need to exist, and if they do they shouldn’t be the focus the way Crowley’s are.
- “winged!Aziraphale/winged!Crowley” means both of their wings should be story-relevant.
- "Aziraphale/Crowley" is not allowed, because we would like you to specify which character's wings are relevant. If you don't have a preference, nominate all variations and ask for all variations.
Normal Relationships
Classic, simple relationship nominations are pretty straight-forward. Be sure to list whose wings are relevant and disambiguate your fandom!
