Wingfic Exchange 2021 Schedule + Rules
May. 12th, 2021 08:59 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
This is an exchange focused on wings and wingfic! It pulls from flash exchange ethos in many ways, but is closer to the length of a regular exchange.
All kinds of wings are welcome! Bird wings, bat wings, dragon wings, insect wings, robot wings—they’re all wings! They’re all cool!
All works in this exchange must include a character with wings, and should be at least somewhat focused on the wings in question.

Nominations
Freeform Nomination Guidelines
Freeforms must relate to wings and wingfic somehow! Freeforms that do not have anything to do with wings/wingfic (e.g., “hurt/comfort” or “huddling for warmth” or “hand kisses”) will be rejected.
Tags will be grouped into categories like "Any:" "Dragon:" "Angel:" “Insect:” etc. The categories mentioned here are a selection, and not meant to be limiting; please create your own categories as you see fit.
Examples:
Freeform tags nominated without a prefix will be given around 24hrs to add a prefix before the mod adds "Any:" as a prefix.
Fandom Nomination Guidelines
Nominate Original Works under “Original Work”.
Large media franchises (Star Wars, MCU, Arrowverse, etc.) may be nominated in whatever way makes the most sense to you. If you want to do “Star Wars Prequel Trilogy” and “Star Wars AMT”, on your head be it.
Character Nomination Rules:
By nominating/requesting a character, you are asking for works about them with wings.
Nominate single characters only.
(Nominations styled as “Group: Enterprise Bridge Crew (TOS)” or “Any Princess of Power (She-Ra 2018)” will be rejected in this exchange.)
Characters must include fandom disambiguations. Examples: “Steve Rogers (Marvel 616)”, “Nie Huaisang (The Untamed)”, “Obi-Wan Kenobi (SW:TCW)”, “Wen Kexing (TYK)”. If you do not use a disambiguation, or the disambiguation does not match the fandom your character is nominated under, it will not be accepted.
Original characters are allowed. Nominate them under the “Original Work” fandom. If you care what gender your original character is, you must specify it in the tag. Example nominations: “Fallen Angel (Original Work)”, “Male Chosen One Who Suddenly Gained Wings (OW)”, “Nonbinary Cyborg Very Excited for New Wing Grafts (OW)”, “Shapeshifter (Original Work)”.
RPF is allowed so long as the individual is over 18 and famous in their own right. Nominations in bad taste will be rejected at the mod’s discretion. Nominate into specific RPF categories (Women’s Soccer RPF, Word of Honor RPF, Shakespeare RPF, etc.) as best you can.
Sign-Ups
Requests and Offers:
Requests
You must make at least three (3) and at most ten (10) requests.
Each request is for a specific fandom, and you may pick 1-20 characters and 3-20 freeform tags within each request. You must also choose if you want Fic and/or Art fills.
By requesting a character, you are asking for a work where they have wings.
You may repeat fandoms/characters across different requests. It is recommended to choose multiple characters/fandoms across different requests (e.g., not asking for only Tony Stark in MCU, Marvel 616, and Avengers Academy) to make matching more likely and give your creators greater flexibility.
You must request at least three (3) freeform tags in each request. These are not matched upon. These are prompt suggestions and directions for your creator.
Offers
You must offer 3-10 unique fandoms, with 1-20 characters within each fandom.
Again, please do your best not to offer only one character/relationship. If you cannot match to a request at the end of the sign-up period, then you will be emailed and given 12 hours to respond and make your signup matchable. If you do not respond within that time, or cannot add offers that allow you to create for someone, your sign-up will be deleted.
Matching:
This exchange will match on the Fandom and Character fields. You will match to someone who has requested at least one Fandom and Character that you have offered.
If you are unmatchable at the end of the sign-up period, you will be emailed with directions to update your sign-up to be matchable. If you cannot match to a request at the end of the sign-up period, then you will be emailed and given 12 hours to respond and make your signup matchable. If you do not respond within that time, or cannot add offers that allow you to create for someone, your sign-up will be deleted.
Optional Details and DNWs:
The optional details box allows you to give your creator extra information about things you like in gifts, as well as letting your creator know what you Do Not Want.
This is where you can suggest relationships you like seeing your requested character(s) in (& or /), mention general likes that aren’t wing-related/don’t fit in the tags, and suggest prompt ideas.
Do Not Wants (DNWs) must be in the optional details box to be enforced.
DNWs will not be enforced if they’re unreasonably restrictive or contradict a requested tag. For example, “DNW alternate universe” for a mundane historical fandom where the character(s) having wings is inherently an AU would not be enforced. Similarly, “DNW any fic that isn’t about Tony Stark/Steve Rogers” would not be enforced because it’s locking your creator into a single relationship. (You may DNW specific relationships or characters. For instance, “DNW Kylo Ren” in a Star Wars Sequel Trilogy request or “DNW Xue Yang/Song Lan” in a Modao Zushi request would be enforceable.)
DNWs should also be specific. If a DNW is too vague, then creators (and the mod) won’t be able to determine if a work includes your DNW. This exchange will assume people are acting in good faith, but misunderstandings and mistakes happen. Please do your best. If a creator is confused about their recipient’s DNWs, they are welcome to email the mod to request clarification from the recipient.
Creation Period
Assignments:
Minimum requirements:
- Fic: A complete story of at least 500 words.
- Art: A clean sketch.
In either case, the work must focus on at least one requested Character and portray them with wings. (It is recommended that you use at least one freeform tag as inspiration, but since matching doesn’t take freeforms into account it’s not required.)
Remember to avoid your recipient’s DNWs, and make a good-faith effort to create something they’ll enjoy—look at Freeforms and Optional Details for ideas!
Pinch Hits and Treats
Treat Basics
Treats are wonderful! Please create them and post them, both during the exchange and at any point after; the collection will remain open for treating indefinitely.
Treats are not subject to the exchange minimums, though they must still fit the exchange theme.
Treats are, however, still subject to the recipient’s DNWs. Do your best to gift people things they will enjoy!
If a treat is over the minimum and fits the request requirements, it may become a main gift if the person officially assigned to create for a person defaults.
Pinch Hits
If a creator defaults, the person they were creating for will be put up for pinch hit (unless that person also defaulted).
Pinch hits will be posted here and may be claimed by commenting on the pinch hit post on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The collection’s opening will not be delayed for people who don’t have gifts, but we will do our best to ensure everyone has at least one gift.
